With Carpet Claims Not Everyone Has the Same Objective or Expectation
Kevin and Terry Weinheimer are often asked the question What are the objectives and expectations of the parties involved in a wall to wall carpet claim? It has been the experience of the Weinheimer Group and other carpet inspectors that everyone involved in a carpet claim from the consumer, carpet dealer and carpet installer to the carpet distributor and carpet manufacturer will most often have different objectives or expectations.
Consumer
The carpet consumer expects a carpet to perform and to be without flaws. They expect the product to have been properly installed. If they have a problem with the carpet they expect that problem to be resolved quickly through repair, replacement or an adjustment. If they have to file a carpet claim they expect it to be handled quickly and to their satisfaction.
Carpet Dealer
The carpet dealer wants his customer to be satisfied. He wants to make a profit and wants the complaint and the handling of the carpet claim handled quickly and with the least expense.
Carpet Installer
The carpet installer wants to install the carpet quickly and for the job to exhibit a good appearance. He does not want call backs that cut into time and profits and certainly does not want to be involved in a carpet claim.
Carpet Distributor
The carpet distributor wants the dealer and consumer to be happy, and wants the carpet claim to be handled rapidly while making a reasonable profit.
Carpet Manufacturer
The carpet manufacturer wants to keep the customers and retail consumers happy, with a quick turnaround on the inspection. They want the claimant satisfied at a reasonable cost.
Certified Carpet Inspector
When a certified carpet inspector is commissioned by a carpet dealer, installer, distributor or manufacturer, they are expected to act as a non bias 3rd party. The certified carpet inspector will investigate the carpet claim and provide the tests and documentation that will work towards addressing the expectations of all involved in the carpet claim. Not an easy job but a necessary job.
